About Julie Leung

With over 30 years of clinical experience, I am dedicated to helping individuals in New York and New Jersey reconnect with their inner strength and achieve lasting healing. My approach integrates evidence-based practices with somatic therapies, providing a unique and personalized path to emotional well-being.

My Journey

Early in my career as a psychotherapist, I noticed that many clients struggling with trauma were not finding relief through traditional talk therapy. This realization led me to explore somatic therapies, which address trauma stored in the body and the subcortical brain. Today, I specialize in trauma-focused care that combines innovative techniques like Brainspotting with a compassionate and collaborative therapeutic relationship.

As an immigrant, I bring a unique perspective to my work, shaped by personal experience and deep cultural understanding. Navigating life between cultures has given me firsthand insights into the complexities of identity, belonging, and adaptation. Through these experiences I have built a profound awareness of the challenges that come with cultural transitions, intergenerational differences, and systemic barriers that immigrants and diverse communities often face. This awareness helps me support clients with compassion and cultural sensitivity, whether they are dealing with acculturation stress, family expectations, or feelings of disconnection.

I am also proud to offer bilingual therapy in Cantonese and Toisanese, creating a culturally sensitive space for BIPOC individuals, immigrants, and first-generation Americans to explore their identities and experiences.

My Mission

My mission is to empower individuals to achieve greater balance, emotional resilience, and peace. I believe therapy should be a space where all aspects of identity are welcomed and understood. Through our work together, I will guide you to navigate your unique journey with greater self-awareness, understanding, and empowerment.

If you select me to be your therapist together we will uncover the patterns and stories that may be holding you back, fostering a deeper connection between your mind and body to create space for healing and growth.
